Charles "Dean" Johnson, 81, Prague resident, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Dean was born on June 3, 1934 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Charles “Bud” Johnson and Flossie (Gragg) Johnson. Dean grew up in the Stroud area and attended and graduated from Stroud High School. Dean owned and operated the Downtowner Phillips 66 Service Station in Seminole for over 28 years before his retirement. He began working at his parent’s service station while growing up and in the 1950’s opened his first service station until 1964, when the family moved to Medford, Oregon where he owned and operated a service station. While in Medford, Dean was active in driving school children to their extracurricular activities after school. Dean was married to Mattie Ella (Keeney) Johnson on November 14, 1980 in Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2011. Dean is survived by his sons; David McBay and his wife Lora of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Murray Dean Johnson of Stroud, Oklahoma, two daughters Deborah Sierra of Seattle, Washington and Beverly Wiseman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister Gloria Nedell and her husband Jack of Coronado, California, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mattie, and his daughter Debra McBay Wheless. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Warren Danskin officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, East of Seminole, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
