Charles Wayne Deere

Charles Wayne "Pops" Deere of Sherman, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the age of 71. He was born on September 24, 1947 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Taylor Harjo and Cindy (Deere) Harjo. He was of the Methodist faith. Charles graduated from Strother High School in 1965.  He married Marguerite “Marcie” (Hause)  Deere on August 27,1980 in Gainesville, Texas. In 1981 they moved to Sherman, Texas where Charles worked as an animal control officer for 10 years. In 1988 he became a maintenance man for Rainbow trailer Park and worked there for 27 years until his retirement. He was a man of many trades. Charles is survived by his wife Marcie Deere, five sons; Johnny Deere and wife Pam, Leroy Deere and wife Melanie, Victor Deere and wife Jennifer, Eric Douthit and wife Tami, Wade Douthit and wife Jody, daughter; Nikki Douthit, brothers; Larry Deere, Bill Tiger, Richard Harjo, Sandy Harjo and Bobby Harjo, sisters; Linda Gonzales, Birdie Martinez, Grace Harjo and Brenda Harjo, 23 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Clark and numerous other family members. Funeral services for Charles will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 1, 2019 at Hitchitee United Methodist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma with Bobby Harjo and Sandie Harjo officiating. Burial will follow at Hitchitee Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Markus Parish, Leland Parish, Jason Deere, Anthony Hawkins, Tommy Lewis and Daniel Taylor. Honorary bearer will be his beloved dog Cheboni, escorted by Wyatt Parish. Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
