Charles Brunerrn01/16/1949-12/08/2008rnrnCharles Bruner, age 59, departed this life on Monday, December 8, 2008, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.rnrnServices are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. December 13, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Konawa, Oklahoma under the direction of Swearingen Funeral of Konawa. Rev. L.R. Drinkwater, Rev. Wilburn Bruner, and Rev. Famous Cochran will officiate. Interment will follow at the Bruner Cemetery in Konawa, Oklahoma. Pallbearers are Bryant Bruner, Errol Bruner, Michael Bruner, Charles Bruner, Jr., Michael Devon Bruner, Quinton Bruner, David Young, and Alvin Williamson.rnrnCharles Bruner was born to the union of Geneva and Johnnie Bruner on January 16, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa, Oklahoma.rnrnCharles attended Konawa Elementary School in Konawa, Oklahoma. Later, his family moved back to Oklahoma City where he attended Douglas High School. Charles loved sports and was known for his athletic abilities in swimming and playing basketball. He served as a Youth Leader with the local Catholic Church in the Walnut Grove Community. He later moved to Boston Massachusetts and completed his education. Charles worked at Leeway, Wilson Food Corporation and later worked as a taxi driver.rnrnIn 1973, he met and married Queen Lee and to this union two sons were born. Charles Bart Bruner, Jr., and Michael Devon Bruner, and a step-daughter, Kathy Carrington. Thereafter, Charles met Helen Purcell and to this union, one son was born, Quinton Bruner. A very special friend was Ursula Henley.rn rnHe is survived by three sons, Charles Bruner, Jr. of Jefferson City, Missouri, Michael D. Bruner and Quinton Bruner, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Kathy Carrington of Atlanta, Georgia; five brothers, Joseph Willie Bruner, Bryant (Mary) Bruner, Errol Bruner, and Michael Bruner, all of Oklahoma City, and David Young of Lawton, Oklahoma; two sisters, Rebecca (Willie) Henderson and Charlesetta Branton, both of Oklahoma City; ten grandchildren, Jordan, Charles, Jr., Deonajah, Alliante, Monaqueiah, Michael Jr., Anthony, Taybreon, Ashley, and Brittany; one aunt, Lucille Perry; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; and Ms. Clemateen Williams: a cousin and one of the elders of the family.rnrnHe was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Geneva Bruner, two brothers, John Dean Bruner and Jackie Lee Bruner, his grandparents, Charlie and Sona Bruner and Abraham and Jannet Ransom Nero.rn Funeral Information: December 12, 2008, 11:00 AM
