Charles David Brooks, age 79 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6th at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Konawa. Rev. Mona Faulks, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. The sons and grandsons will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Rob Chew, Chris Sharp, Ray Lemmings, Wesley Yott, Chip Melton, Jason Melton, Lonnie Faulks, and Scott Sanders. Charles was born on August 7, 1932 in Maysville, Oklahoma to Granville Brooks and Celeste Elizabeth (Smith) Brooks. Charles received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Central University in Ada, and he served in the Korean War in the Army. He married Rosetta Hughes on December 17, 1955, and he worked as a mechanic for Surber Ford and for the Konawa school system. Charles was also a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Konawa. He loved his grandchildren, and he loved to work on cars. He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Brooks of the home; five sons, Brian Brooks and wife, Judy of Ada, Oklahoma, Tracy Brooks and wife, Lori of Roff, Oklahoma, Darryl Brooks and wife, Angie of Konawa, Oklahoma, Joe Brooks and wife, Amber of Ada, Oklahoma, and Jeremiah Brooks, also of Ada; two brothers, Bill Brooks of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and John Brooks of California; five sisters, Betty Jones of Gilmer, Texas, Barbara Jones also of Gilmer, Texas, Annie Manning of Thackerville, Oklahoma, Mary Brooks Jones of Konawa, Oklahoma, and Bonnie Melton also of Konawa; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Celeste Brooks, two sons, Charles David Brooks, Jr., and Jeffrey Royce Brooks; two granddaughters, Allyson Brooks, and Bailey Brooks.
