Clifford Edward "C.E." Briery, 93, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, January 24, 2014 in Plano, Texas where he had been living for the past four years. C.E. was born September 29, 1920, in Okay, Oklahoma. Mr. Briery, was longtime Manager for Hopeman Equipment in Seminole, Oklahoma and later worked for Moody Oilfield Services and Supply in Wewoka, Oklahoma. C.E. served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Seminole, Oklahoma, a member of the American Legion Post 204 and the Seminole Masonic Lodge, where he served in various offices. He was a huge Oklahoma University Fan and very much enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Townsend of Plano, Texas, his grandchildren, Ashley and husband Frank Slaughter of Prosper, Texas, Alisha and husband Bryan Rand of Frisco, Texas, great grandchildren; Jurnee, Dalton, Andrew, Cade, Sarah, Ella, Rhea, Haylee and Grace. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Genny Briery, they were married January 1, 1942 in Seminole, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2010, and also by his son, Cliff Briery. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery. Rev. Andy Lewis will officiate at the service. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
