Carver Joe Payne, 63 year-old lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Veteran?s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born August 19, 1945 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to parents Choice (Morris) Payne and Sherman Payne. He was the youngest of four children.rnrnCarver graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1963. He went on to serve his Country in the United States Army for six years.rnrnPayne retired several years ago from ranching and is a member of the Black Farmers Association.rnrnThose left to cherish his loving memories are his companion, Erma Jean Nubine of the home; one daughter, Evelyn Ren?e Winrow of Antilope, California; one son, Terry Payne of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one step-son, Keith Nubine and his companion Amanda Cunningham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Sherman and his wife Sharon Payne of Earlsboro, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends.rnrnPayne is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Carolyn Payne Parrish and by one brother, Lawrence Cox.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 2, 2009 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Reverend Larry Payne of Ebenezer Baptist Church will be officiating.
