Carrie Carriger

Longtime Seminole resident Carrie Mae Carriger passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 92.  Carrie was born on September 8, 1916 in Red Oak, Oklahoma to Duke and Emeline (Baker) Stallaby.   She married Pete Carney who preceded her in death.  She later married Oscar Carriger, deceased from whom she was divorced.    She worked at the ammunition depot in McAlester, Oklahoma.  After moving to Seminole, she was employed for years at Pat’s Café and the Bus Station Café.  Her hobbies included quilt making and gardening.  She was a member of the Seminole Congregational Methodist Church.   She is survived by two sons; George R. Carney and Gerald R. Carney both of Seminole, daughter and son-in-law:  Yolanda and Jackie Ross of Prague, Oklahoma, one special grandson, Christopher Carney of the home, and two sisters; Jane Tomlinson of California and Anna Belle Barbee of Whitefield, Oklahoma. Eleven grandchildren: Rebecca Ross of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Joanna Hinkle of Prague, Samantha Ross of Prague, George Carney, Jr., of Seminole, James Carney of Florida, Christopher Carney of Seminole, Douglas Carney of Broken Bow, Rajohnia John, Melvin Carney and Pamela Carney all of Eagle Town, Oklahoma and Peter Carney of Wright City, Oklahoma, ten great grandchildren: Hunter and Parker Hinkle, Lucas, Dawson and Grace Carney, Michael Maben, Jaylen, Mariah, Tyler and Taj Carney.    She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Florence Muncy, Irene Stallaby, and Elizabeth Garvin, two brothers, Steve Stallaby, John Stallaby, Sr. and one son Pete Folsom Carney Jr.   Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2009 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Moreland officiating.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens located East of Seminole on Highway 270.    Casket bearers will be:  Jackie Ross, Dale Drumright, George Carney Jr., Douglas Carney, Peter Carney and Melvin Carney.   Honorary Bearers will be:  George and Gerald Carney, Christopher Carney, Rebecca Ross, Joanna Hinkle and Samantha Ross.   Messages of condolences may be sent to the family online at www.swearingenfuneralhome.com Funeral Information: August 7, 2009, 2:00 PM Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel located at 100 W.
