Carolyn Lanell May

Carolyn Lanell May, Tecumseh, OK resident, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 in Meeker, OK at the age of 84. Carolyn was born on April 21, 1940 in Holdenville, OK to Laverne and Marie Smith. She married Roger E. May on February 28, 1959 in Holdenville, OK. 

Carolyn enjoyed painting and sewing. She was a dedicated member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. Carolyn loved to attend family sporting events.

Carolyn is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Jalena May of Seminole, OK, Tommy and Carmen May of Shawnee, OK and Rodney and Dovie May of Shawnee, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and John Cooksey of Tecumseh, OK and Karla and James Buchanan of Shawnee, OK; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandy Smith of Shawnee, OK; sister-in-law, Linda Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Robert Smith of Holdenville, OK; eight grandchildren, Wesley and Ashlee May, Devon and Chase Washburn, Marcus May, Michael May, Derek and Valerie Kiker, Staci Kiker, Macie May and Dassie May; great grandchildren, Wyatt May, Walker May, Jackson Clubb, Spencer Clubb, Major May, Ryken May, Marcus May Jr. and Lexington Kiker and numerous nephews and nieces and many other family and friends. 

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Marie Smith; husband, Roger E. May; two sisters, Sharon Brinlee and Peggy Elliot and brother, Gary Smith.  

Those serving as casket bearers will be Marcus May, Michael May, Derek Kiker, Wesley May, Jackson Clubb, Spencer Clubb and Marcus May Jr. Honorary casket bearers will be Wyatt May, Walker May and Major May.

Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Sharon Baptist Church with Pastor Clint Dawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
