Carl Dwaine Watson, 82, returned to his Heavenly Father on February 6, 2017. Carl leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Gayle Brann Watson; his children: DeCarla Wallgren and husband Monty, Crystal Walk and husband David, Rocky Watson, and Ricky Watson; 21 Grandchildren: Teresa Wilkerson (Jarrod), Melanie Shult (Mark), Bryan Bull (Shawona), Faith Burdette (Patrick), Kate Springer (Norman), Holly Finch (Richard), Derence Walk, Crystal Hill (Pacer), Mary McInturff (Steven), Carl Walk, Brandon Watson (Maleah), Rocky C. Watson (Nicola), Heather Watson, Tiffany Rodriguez( Juan), Alexander Race, Kimberly Jarrell (Curtis), Kelli Watson, Cameron Watson, Derek Watson (Michelle), Hannah Watson, and Ricky Watson; and 34 Great Grandchildren: Tommy Lee Wilson, Dakota Kirkpatrick, Dallas Kirkpatrick, Brandon Holliday, Katlynn Shult, Maddelann Johnson, Christofer Shult, Alexandriana Shult, Justin Shult, Hunter Johnson, Tyler Shult, Harley Bull, Abbigayle Bull, Evelyn Bull, Caleb Springer, Orion Springer, Logan Finch, Korbyn Finch, Riley Finch, Xander Finch, Xaden Finch, Dominick Hill, Gavin Watson, Olivia Hill, Connor Watson, Mikayla Watson, Rocky Watson II, Lillianna Watson, Xavier Rodriguez, Kylie Watson, Karsyn Jo Watson, Mathew Watson, Kayden Watson, and Blissly Watson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Berman and Lula Watson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Watson; granddaughter, Shelbree Wilson; and grand daughter-in-law, Amber Watson. Carl was born March 16, 1934 to Berman and Lula Scott Watson in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1952 and attended Oklahoma Baptist University. On November 20, 1954 he married his love, Gayle. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on June 20, 1967. Carl frequently spoke of beginning work in the peanut fields at 6 years old. The only child of Berman and Lula, he learned to work hard at an early age. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base after nearly 30 years as an Inventory Management Specialist. He also worked as a Realtor in the Pottawatomie county area for many years. Carl filled his life with service. He served in many leadership callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as well as many years in the Genealogy Library. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge, and previously served as the President of the Red Bud Kiwanis. Much of his life was spent serving in the Boy Scouts program. In 1970 he was elected as City Commissioner-At-Large in Shawnee, Ok. He worked diligently as they built a new City Hall after it was destroyed by a tornado. His name is proudly displayed on the outer wall of the building. He assisted with many political campaigns, behind the scenes, and loved being in the know. Carl loved to spend time in the vegetable garden and spent many years raising chickens and cattle after moving from the Shawnee area. He loved traveling with his wife, Gayle, and made many road trips throughout the United States. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 13, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Seminole Ward at 2500 John St. Seminole, Oklahoma, with James Choate officiating at the service. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery at 35500 Hardesty Road in Bethel Acres. Public viewing will begin Friday, February 10, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, at the funeral home, and there will be no public viewing at the church.
