Carl Chester Sutton, age 90 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A graveside service is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27th at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Duck, Pastor of Vamoosa Baptist Church, will officiate. Pallbearers are Rob Doolen, Jim Tatum, Jerry Love, Arnold Robertson, Barry Streetman, and C.L. Bounds. Carl was born the sixth of ten children on April 21, 1921 in Morris, Oklahoma to Jesse Sutton and Alma (Willhoite) Sutton. He attended schools in Okmulgee county, came to Seminole county in 1938, and was a graduate of Vamoosa High School. After high school, Carl worked for Douglas Air Craft in Oklahoma City and for Pine Oil Company for many years. Carl worked for Brown and Root and helped build the Konawa Post Office before his retirement in 1976. He was a charter member of the Vamoosa Baptist Church and remained active until his death. He is survived by one brother, Walter Sutton of Seminole, Oklahoma; two sisters, Rena Carter of Konawa, Lo Scott of Tucson, Arizona; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Alma Sutton; four brothers, Ernie, Arnom, Clyde, and Bill Sutton; two sisters, Clara Rigdon and Mamie Sutton.
