Carl J. Seyfert

April 11, 1924 — November 24, 2016

Carl Julius Seyfert, 92 year old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by his loving family on November 24, 2016 at his home in Seminole.  He was born April 11, 1924 in Johnson County, Arkansas to parents Callie (Brown) Seyfert and Clement Carl Seyfert. Carl graduated from Harjo High School. He had worked at Otasco for 25 years, Seminole Lumber, and retired from the Goff Corporation in Seminole. On September 28, 1961 Carl married Mary Wanda Snell in Seminole, Oklahoma. Carl was a very loving and dedicated family man.  He was also a faithful servant to God.  For many years he and his family attended the Seminole First Assembly of God Church where Carl was a deacon and usher for over 16 years, he also served on the church board for over 16 years. It was never a surprise to see Carl visiting friends and church members who were in the hospital or nursing home. Recently he and his wife had been attending Bowlegs First Assembly of God until Carl’s health started to decline. Carl leaves to cherish his many memories to his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Seyfert, of the home; one son, Jeff Seyfert of Yukon, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Ashley Seyfert; two sisters-in-law, Nona James of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Johnnie Hailey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends. One of the fondest memories of Carl is how he loved to garden and having the ability to make the straightest rows around.  He wouldn’t even let his loving wife, Mary, help him because the rows had to be just right. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Callie and Clement Carl Seyfert, by three brothers and their spouses, Theodore and Alice Griffith, Raymond and Elsie Seyfert, by an infant brother, Eugene Seyfert; by three sisters and their spouses; infant sister Georgia Griffith, Lillie and BA Smith, Susie and Prentis Letney; by brothers-in-law, Bill Snell, Vernon James, Ed Hailey; by sisters-in-law, Betty Whitt and Helen and Olen Boyd; and by his mother and father-in-law, Fred and Dora Snell.
