Carl Lee Nelson, 79, lifelong Seminole resident, died Friday, January 16, 2015 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Carl was born January 31, 1935 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Leona Faye (Mitchell) and Alvie Cleo Nelson. Carl spent most of his working career working in pipeline construction and as a heavy equipment operator. Carl was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Seminole and enjoyed his animals, trading and swapping with people. Carl married Etta Belveal Nelson on October 21, 1960 in Sherman, Texas. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Etta Nelson of the home, two sons Eddie Nelson of Seminole, Oklahoma and Michael Lindsey of Comanche, Oklahoma, two daughters Sandy Marshall of Seminole, Oklahoma and Carla McDaniel of St. Joseph, Missouri, one brother Don Nelson of Houston, Texas , fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Donna Sue Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy and Nita Moreland officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Casket bearers will be Chuck Anderson, Tommy Darr, Mark Quinality, Kyle Kreeger, Brent Ingram, and Jerod Marshall. Honorary bearers will be George Lewellen, C.T. Johnson, Don Pinkerton, Kendall McDaniel, Bret Billings, Caleb McDaniel, Quinton Undsey, and Dillon Whetstine.
