Carl Dean Morgan , age 91 and a life-long resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Vamoosa Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Bruce Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Church casket bearers are Frankie Hudson, Logan Hudson, Paul Sanders, Travis Goodwin, Brian O’Hanlon, and Colton Dewitt. Cemetery bearers are Kent Winters, Tommy Sexton, Roy Hicks, Joe Morgan, Jeff Hudson, Kerry Hudson, and Sawyer McGarity. Honorary bearers are Mike Hudson, Cody Sexton, Kaden Goodwin, Jace Bicknell, A. J. Gonzales, Austin Sack, and Briar Hudson.
Carl was born November 9, 1929 in Konawa to Jess Morgan and Elsie (Terry) Morgan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War from 1947 until 1953. He married June Hudson on January 27, 1953 in Ada, Oklahoma, and worked as an Airplane mechanic for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City until his retirement. He was also a bus driver for the Konawa School system. Carl was of the Baptist faith, and he liked noodling, and playing guitar and singing. He was all about fun, and pulling pranks to scare people. Most of all, he loved being with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 67 years, June Morgan of the home; three daughters, Tifawna Winters and husband, Kent of Konawa, Ramona Sexton and husband, Tommy of Konawa, and DeAngela Hicks and husband, Roy also of Konawa; one daughter-in-law, Roberta Brake of Konawa; ten grandchildren, Crystal Gonzales and husband, A. J. of Dickinson, Texas, Joe Morgan of Konawa, Stephen Winters and wife, Crystal of Houma, Louisiana, Nicole Bicknell and husband, Roger of Allen, Texas, Ashley Goodwin and husband, Travis of Byng, Oklahoma, Jessica O’Hanlon and husband, Brian of Washington, Oklahoma, Cody Sexton and Colton Dewitt of McKinney, Texas, Morgan McGarity and husband, Tyler of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Savanna Hicks of Konawa, and Madison Hicks of Konawa; eighteen great grandchildren, Taylen, Tori, and Izzy Gonzales, Braylynn Sack and husband, Austin, Tapanga, and Mikiah Morgan, Dane, Cooper, and Addison Winters, Jace Bicknell, Kaden, Karlee, and Kynli Goodwin, Olivia, Rylee, and Blakely O’Hanlon, Sawyer and Nova McGarity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Elsie Morgan; one son, Faron Morgan; three brothers, J. L. Morgan, Vernon Morgan, and Jackie Morgan; and one sister, Janice Heatherly.
