Lifelong Seminole resident Buddy Keith Harjo passed away on March 18, 2010 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 56. He was born on August 12, 1953 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Isaac Harjo and Juanita (Little) Wise. He was band chief and chairman of Hecete Band and also served as a council rep for Seminole Nation. He worked for New Horizon Nursing Home in Konawa, Oklahoma. He was member of the Full Gospel Church and pastured for the Assemblies of God. He graduated from Midwest City High School and attended Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kansas. He is survived by three sons: Brian Keith Harjo Howe of Round Rock, Texas, Buddy Harjo, Jr. of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Isaac Harjo of Colorado, two daughters, Melanie Deatherage of Seminole, Oklahoma and Anitra Rooks of California, three brothers; Steven Harjo of Seminole, Ronnie Harjo of Seminole, and Howard Harjo of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and two sisters, Rowena Gonzales of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Amy Fixico of Seminole. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Isaac Harjo, grandparents: Buddy and Alice Little and Roosevelt Barnett. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 Monday, March 22, 2010 at the God’s Glory Temple with Rev. Don Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Tallahasee Cemetery. Wake services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Sunday Wake services will be held at 6:00 pm at God’s Glory Temple. Pallbearers will be: Leo Moppin, Daniel Tanyan, Ronald Daniels, Steven Barnett, Ronnie Harjo, Jr., Neal Harjo, Adam Tanyan and Tony Fixico. Honorary Bearers will be: Afton Hill, Brian Harge, Jerald Fixico, Junior Harge, Corey Davis, Tim Davis, Joel Davis, Siah Davis, Calvin Harjo, Terry Harjo, Randy Harjo and Jordan Gonzales.
