Bonnie Joy (Jackson) Eakens, age 86 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 25th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Guy Jackson, Dale Jackson, and Doyle Gene Jackson will officiate. Pallbearers are Chris Eakens, Chad Henry, Paul Emrich, Jackson Greene, Jay Jackson, Guy Jackson, and Doyle Gene Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers Lillard Berry, Mike Boren, Caleb Emrich, Canaan Emrich, Houston Greene, and Cole Greene. Bonnie was born on January 12, 1927 in Konawa to Walter N. Jackson and Sally Belle (Prewitt) Jackson. She earned her Master of Science Degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and was an elementary teacher for many years at Konawa. Bonnie was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved to cook and do yard-work, but most of all, she loved her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Bobby and Fern Eakens of Ada, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jan and Gary Henry of Ada; one brother, Doyle Jackson of Claremore, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sally Belle Jackson and by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Eakens on January 23, 1955.
