Bonita Jean (Holt) Anderson, 89, former Seminole resident, died in Kingston, Oklahoma, Saturday, December 18, 2016. She was born February 19, 1927 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Herman Holt and Afton (Early) Holt. Bonita lived in Seminole, Oklahoma for 84 years. She graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1945. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma College in 1959 with her Bachelor’s degree and her Master of Education degree in 1966. She was a teacher a Prairie Valley School from 1959 to 1963 and New Lima High School from 1963 to 1983, where she taught 9th thru 12th grade students Language Arts and Speech. She was a longtime member of the Bowlegs Methodist Church, where she was very active and played the piano and organ for the church for many years. She married Melvin Anderson in 1983 and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2015. She enjoyed various Types of music and enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her son Glenn and his wife June Newport of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and her daughter Cathy Marshall and her husband Gary of Gordonville, Texas, two grandchildren Beth Newport of Tacoma, Washington and Jason Newport and his wife Amanda of Conway, Arkansas Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Services will be held at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Stephen Robinson, Chaplain with Aspire Hospice officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin in 2015 and her sister Reba Dean Mace. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
