Bobby Joe Rounsaville , age 72 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away at his home in Byng, Oklahoma on February 26, 2021.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Rev. Jerry Orsburn will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Levi Moore, Tristan Wood, Gareth Wood, Noah Merchant, Ian Merchant, and Bryan Chaney. Honorary bearers are David Wood, Roy Hicks, Jr., Grady Roundtree, Roger Rounsaville, Russell Rounsaville, and Lance Rounsaville.
Bobby was born July 1, 1948 in Konawa to Elmer “Shorty” Rounsaville and Noma Maxine (Mosley) Rounsaville. He grew up in the Konawa and Vamoosa area and graduated from Vamoosa High School in 1966. He married LaMona Dean Hicks July 17, 1970 in Konawa, and he loved bowling, fishing, wood crafts, and “piddling” around. Bobby was a counselman and the Mayor of Konawa for twelve years. He was also the Chief of Security for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Bobby attended the Oil Center Pentecostal Church, and he was loved and well known in the Konawa community.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, LaMona Rounsaville; three daughters, Amy Rounsaville of Byng, Oklahoma, Tambra Merchant and husband, Daniel of Konawa, Oklahoma, and Barbie Rounsaville also of Konawa; one brother, Jack Rounsaville of Finger, Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Roy Hicks, Jr. of Konawa; two sisters-in-law, Gail Warrior of Konawa, and Georgia Hicks of Byng, Oklahoma; father-in-law, Roy Hicks, Sr. and wife, Loretta of Greenwood, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Levi Moore and wife, Felecia, Tristan Wood, Kaitlyn Kelough and husband, Dillon, Gareth Wood, Noah Merchant, Lauryn Merchant, Ian Merchant, and Kaylee Brogdon; five great grandchildren, Kinsley Kelough, Presleigh Moore, Jace Wood, Hunter Kelough, and Brynlee Moore; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shorty and Maxine Rounsaville; one sister-in-law, Judy Rounsaville; and mother-in-law, Thelma Hicks.
