Bobby Ray Phillips

Bobby Ray Phillips was born June 19, 1953, in Seminole, OK to Robert R. and Elva E. (Merriman) Phillips. He was born and raised in Seminole and a graduate of the 1971 class of Seminole High School. Bobby married Sharlene Collinsworth in Pickett Center, OK on March 1, 1974. During their 51 years of marriage, they raised two daughters, Leslie LeAnn and Lyndsey Dawn. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren- Jax, Kole, Canaan and Isley that he adored and was very proud of. Bobby passed this life on April 11, 2025, in Shawnee, OK with his loved ones surrounding him.

Bobby was self-employed for many years as a backhoe/heavy equipment operator around the Seminole, Pontotoc, Hughes, and Pottawatomie Counties. He was well known for his exceptional machinery and backhoe operating skills. From ponds, bridges, house pads, trenches, ditches, etc. he did it all. After a spinal cord injury and recovery, Bobby began his career for Mathews Energy in Seminole, OK that was later attained by Cudd Energy Services. While there, Bobby served as the Maintenance Manager. After 25 years of service, he retired in 2018.

After retirement, Bobby spent his time with his wife, kids and grandkids doing outdoor activities. He loved to take the grandkids camping, boating, riding side-by-sides, four wheelers and RV traveling. He was an avid prankster and joke teller. Bobby enjoyed spending time visiting with his co-workers from the oil patch. He also had a host of nieces and nephews that he loved to spend time with. Bobby was always ready to go ride the river or trails with any of them that called.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sharlene Phillips of the home, daughter and son in law Leslie & Jaymn Burdine, Eufaula and daughter and son in law Lyndsey & Matt Abel, Seminole, grandchildren Jax and Kole Williams, Canaan and Isley Abel, father Robert Phillips, sister Pamela Burnett, brother Keith Phillips, best friend Tim Mathews and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Elva E. Phillips.

Pall bearers will be the friends that Bobby considered family. Tim Davis, Vernon Kitsmiller, Gary Elliott, Mark Echelle, Manny Gonzalez, Joe Foutz, and Gary Gentry. Honorary bearers include Jax and Kole Williams, Canaan and Isley Abel, Jaymn Burdine, Matt Abel, Tim Mathews, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will be Monday April 14th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.

Memorial services for Bobby Phillips will be held Tuesday April, 15th at 11:00 am at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. His final resting place will be Rest Haven Memorial Gardens following the services. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
