Bobby McConnell

Bobby Joe McConnell, Maud, Oklahoma resident passed into eternal life July 12, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He, along with his twin brother, Billy, were born June 13, 1949 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Earl Columbus and Thelma (Blankenship) McConnell. Bobby attended Wewoka Schools.  He worked in construction, lawn care and managed a car wash.  Bobby loved being outside and mowing his yard.  He enjoyed collecting Hot Wheel cars and coins as well as watching TV. On June 10, 1991 Bobby married Sheila (Smith) Bates. Bobby is survived by his wife, Sheila, of the home; 2 sons, Patrick Bates and his wife Leslie of Maud, Oklahoma and Bobby Laney of Okemah, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Tronya McKee of Woodland Park, Colorado and Kim Nickell of Maud, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Marvin McConnell and his wife Bonnie of Lawton, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Jo Ann Richards of Seminole, Oklahoma and Jennie Taylor and her husband Larry of Rush Springs, Oklahoma; 2 granddaughters, Isabella and Charity; 5 grandsons, Chris, Michael, Tyson, Cody and Justin; 2 very special young people, Austin Harrington and Lilli Graham; his little dog, Rocky and a host of other family and friends. Bobby is preceeded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Harold and Billy McConnell (Bobby’s twin), and 5 sisters, Betty Holder, Vivian Carter, Modene Upton, Helen Harold and Joyce Grissom. A celebration of Bobby’s life will take place, 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma.  Butch Bradley will officiate the service.
