Bobby Gene Hays, long time Seminole county resident passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 in Okemah, Oklahoma at the age of 80. Bobby was born April 3, 1933 in Hughes county to parents Bedford Hays and Opal (Smith) Hays. Bobby served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 where he earned the rank of sergeant  first class and later he joined the National Guard Unit in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Bobby graduated for Yeager High School, moved to Seminole in October of 1962 from Holdenville, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Episcopal Church, a charter member of the Elks Lodge, he was a union steward for the Teamsters Truckers Union and met with union officials during all contract negotiations. He also loved playing golf. Bobby was employed with Wonder Bread for 33 years. He started as a route salesman, where he was promoted to branch manger and then retired in 1995 as a district supervisor. Bobby married Juanita Carlton on October 12, 1966 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Bobby is survived by his wife Juanita Hays, one son, Jonathan Hays and his wife Tonya of Alma, Arkansas, three brothers; Tommy Hays, Jerry Hays both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and David Hays of Denton, Texas, two sisters; Jewel Babiak of Hennessey, Oklahoma and Darlene hays of Carrolton, Texas, one daughter-in-law Elisha Hays of Seminole, Oklahoma, four grandchildren Justin Hays and his wife Suzanne, of Alma, Arkansas, Zachary Hays of Alma, Arkansas, Tanner Hays of Seminole, Oklahoma and Matthew Hays of Seminole, Oklahoma Bobby was preceded in death by son, Timothy Carlton Hays. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Strothers Historic Chapel inside Maple Grove Cemetery.
