Bob Alexander

September 16, 1931 — March 8, 2013

BOB WAYNE ALEXANDER Bob Wayne Alexander, of Seminole, Oklahoma, was born September 16, 1931, in Hominy, Oklahoma, to Leon and Rubye Alexander. As a child, his family moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, and he graduated from Lawton High School in 1949. After high school, Bob attended Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His father died when he was a freshman and he returned to Lawton to attend Cameron State Agricultural College. After attaining his associate’s degree at Cameron, he returned to Oklahoma A & M., graduating in 1955 with a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry. Bob married Mary Donna Hemphill on June 9, 1956, in Henryetta, Oklahoma. They had two children: Leigh Ann (Alexander) Spencer and Stephen Wayne Alexander. Bob began his career as a vocational agriculture teacher at Lacey High School and Geary High School. He then worked in agricultural and chemical sales and, later, in golf course turf sales. He retired in the mid-1990’s. Next to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bob’s greatest love was golf. Over the years, many students on Seminole High School’s golf team played with clubs he built. Until his health began to fail, Bob played golf daily, and until his death, he had a thriving golf club repair business. He also worked at Fire Lake Golf Course until his death. Bob had a big heart. He would help anyone in need. He lived his life quietly, demonstrating his faith in everything he did. On February 14, 2013, Bob suffered a heart attack. On February 28, 2013, he suffered a stroke. He left this life peacefully on March 8, 2013, at his daughter’s house, with his family by his side. Bob was predeceased by his mother and father, his aunt and uncle, Dallas C. and Brooks Ellot White; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Freeda Alexander. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, his children, his grandchildren, Katie Spencer and Alex Spencer and Andrew Alexander; his great-grandchildren, Camdyn Blake and Charley Kate Sellers; his nephews and nieces, Greg Alexander and Sammy Barnes, Greg and Tricia Alexander, and Rose Delumpa-Alexander; and his great-nieces, Natalie and Charlotte Delumpa-Alexander. A viewing will be held at Swearingen Funeral Home on Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at Seminole First United Methodist Church.
