Billy "Bill" Bryant Cloud

Bill Cloud, age 81 and a lifetime resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.  Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery.  Rev. Pam Shirk will officiate.  The grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers are Mike Musick, Joe Andy Blackwood, Wimpy Poston, Zeb Bowles, Gary Freeman, Danny Freeman, and Jerry Smith. Bill was born on April 2, 1931 in Konawa to John Hardy Cloud and Della Mae (Grant) Cloud.  He was a 1949 Konawa High School graduate and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  He married Clarice Scroggins on June 28, 1953 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, and he owned and operated Bill’s Grocery Store in Konawa for thirty-five years.  Bill also retired after twenty years of service as a Konawa Volunteer Fireman.  He was a member of the Konawa School Board and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Clarice Cloud of the home; two sons, Willie Cloud and wife, Brenda, Konawa, and Gary Cloud, Konawa; one daughter, Dee Stoup and husband, Mark, Konawa; one brother, John Cloud, Jr. and wife, Stormy, California; two sisters, Mildred Wilson and husband, Al, Texas, and Sharon Tucker and husband, Milburn, Broken Bow, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Josh and Carrie Cloud, Sasakwa, Oklahoma, Jon and Cheryl Cloud, Cromwell, Oklahoma, Brea Cloud, Konawa, Gary Cloud, Bowlegs, Oklahoma, Daniel and Amanda Cloud, Konawa, Sydney Stoup, Ada, Oklahoma, and Dalton Stoup, Konawa; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Della Cloud. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Konawa American Legion, Post 70, C/O Khoury’s Furniture and Lumber Co., 225 N.
