Billy Dean Carter, 87, longtime Seminole area resident, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Billy was born on May 29, 1928 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to James Dewey Carter and Bertha Irene (Long) Carter. Billy was one of 15 children and 8 of his siblings are still living. Billy lived many years east of Little and owned and operated Bill Carter’s Garage for over 40 years. Billy married Virginia L. (MeGehee) Carter on November 6, 1953 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Billy attended Praise Center Assembly of God Church, in the Little community, and he was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.). Billy served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War and achieved the rank of corporal. Billy loved his family and being with them and keeping them all united. He loved working on antique cars and antique radios. He loved being with his grandchildren and he loved his wife Virginia’s cooking. Billy is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Virginia L. Carter of the home, son and daughter-in-law Eddie Dean and Gen’e Carter of Prague, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law Angela and Robert Young of Seminole, Oklahoma, his grandchildren Brandon Underwood of Seminole, Oklahoma, Brian Underwood of Ohio, Beau Underwood and Blake Underwood both of Seminole, Christie Cheatwood of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Tonya Carter of Seminole, Oklahoma, Keith Carter of Prague, Oklahoma, Kevin Carter of Seminole, Oklahoma, Michael Carter of Prague, Oklahoma and a host of great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Praise Center Assembly of God Church at Little, Oklahoma with Pastor Mark Fox and Chris Lee will be officiating, along with military honors provided by the U.S. Army. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Brandon Underwood, Brian Underwood, Beau Underwood, Blake Underwood, Keith Carter and Kevin Carter. Honorary bearers will be his brothers Lonnie Carter, Melvin Carter, Jimmie Carter, Gary Carter and Mark Ruiz and Garnett Cole. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
