Billie Eugene “ Bill “ Church, 80, longtime Seminole resident died, Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Integris Seminole Medical Center. Bill was born on July 24, 1933 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Elmer Harry Church and Fannie Marie (Devenney) Church. Bill moved to Seminole in 1977, coming from Holcomb, Kansas where he was a feedlot foreman at the Coop Feedlot, in Deerfield, Kansas. After Bill moved to Seminole he began working as a roustabout for various oilfield service companies, which included Maverick Lease Service and Triangle Lease Service in Seminole. Later he began his own company, known as “ Bill’s Lease Service” and served many oil producers here in the Seminole Oilfields. Bill was always known as a very hard working man. Bill, a very patriotic man, served his country in the U.S. Army; he served as a Private First Class during the Korean War, where he received the“ Purple Heart Medal” after being wounded in the leg on the front line of battle. He was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Seminole and the American Legion post #204 in Seminole. He was a very family oriented man, who was loved by everyone, an avid sports fan, loved watching OU Football, and the Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Jean Grimes of Wagoner, Oklahoma, three sons, Donald Church of Seminole, Oklahoma, Randy and Rick Church both of Jones, Oklahoma; his granddaughter Stacy Mize, whom he was very close to, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His parents, the mother of his children ,Betty Bernice Church, on October 17, 1994, his second wife Patricia Church, who died in January of 2005, one brother, two half-brothers, one sister, and two half sisters all preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. a later date, with Military Honors.
