Billy Joe "Bill" Snell, 85, former longtime Seminole resident and businessman, died Wednesday, January 21, 2014 in McKinney, Texas. Bill was born December 8, 1928 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Dora Gertrude (Mosley) and Fred S. Snell. Bill was owner of Snell Pipe and Supply in Seminole and served as a deputy sheriff for the Seminole County Sheriff’s department and a police officer for Seminole Police Department along with being a long city councilman, for the City of Seminole. He was a longtime member the Seminole Rotary Club and was also retired from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. Bill was also a longtime member of the Jarvis Assembly of God. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. Bill is survived by two sons; Wayne Snell of Auburn, Washington and William Snell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two daughters Pat McNatt of Plano, Texas and Diana Snell of Greenwood, Arkansas; three sisters Johnnie Hailey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Nona James and Mary Seyfert of Seminole, Oklahoma. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive him. His parents, four sisters, two grandsons and one great granddaughter preceded him in death. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole with military honors. Clark McNatt will officiate at the funeral services. Casket bearers will be Jeff Seyfert, Michael Dunn, Jerry Boyd, Jackie Boyd, Ronnie Bledsoe and Shawn Scozzari.
