Bill James Scott, Seminole resident, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in Shawnee.  Bill was born on June 22, 1936 in Anadarko, OK to Homer James Scott and Lahoma (Lawson) Wheeler.

Bill grew up around Anadarko.  He started his family in Taft, California and eventually moved to Seminole County where he spent the rest of his life. Bill married Shirley Reece on October 27, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He was self employed as a machinist and welder and also worked as an auctioneer.

Bill enjoyed playing bluegrass music, fishing, watching westerns, golfing and spending time with his family.  He was a member of the Oklahoma Bluegrass Club.  Bill was a member of Bowlegs Baptist Church.

Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Scott; daughter, Karan O’Dor and husband, Gregg; three brothers, Dennie Scott, and wife, Donna, Eddie Wheeler and wife, Donna and Gary Wheeler and wife, Nancy; five grandchildren, Kaytlin O’Dor, Brandy Martin, Stephanie Earles, Nicki Swisher and Billy Swisher; nine great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Don Scott; brother, Wayne Wheeler; grandson, Justin Scott and great grandson, Evan Scott.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Highway Baptist Church.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
