Billey Harding “Bill” McDonald was born August 27, 1920 on the home place in the Twin Oak area, north of Seminole, Oklahoma, to parents M.D. and Osa (Hill) McDonald and passed away April 9, 2019, in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Varnum High School in 1938. Bill married Edna Snodgrass on November 29, 1939, and they moved to Philadelphia, PA, where Bill worked for Bond Bread. During World War II, Bill served in the Navy as a radar man. Following the war, Bill went back to Oklahoma to work in the oil business. An intelligent and hardworking man, he worked his way up from entry level to management. During that time, he learned every road, town, community, and geographical feature of Oklahoma. He retired as Chief Gauger for Sun Oil Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then returned to Seminole. Bill and Edna loved to travel. They even lived full-time in an RV for 25 years; they spent their winters in Rio Grand Valley near the Mexican border and their summers in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. They worshiped and served with the churches of Christ wherever they went. Edna passed away in December of 2008. Although Bill was heartbroken, he didn’t stop enjoying life. He continued to travel, sometimes with church groups and often with family. He had the distinction of having visited all 50 states in his lifetime. He could be found every morning (except Sundays) at the Seminole McDonald’s, solving the world’s problems with a close cohort of coffee buddies. He also enjoyed his lunches and friends at the Heritage House. Bill was a man of God and a minister of the Gospel. He had a deep knowledge and love of the scriptures and always kept a sermon ready in his Bible, just in case. The family finds comfort and peace in his faith and dedication to the Lord. He is in the presence of God and reunited with Edna and so many of his family who have gone before. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Billy McDonald & his wife Ann; daughter, Betty Boggs & her husband Perry; grandson, Troy Boggs; granddaughter, Rachell McDonald; great-granddaughter, Penelope McDonald; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 at Seminole Church of Christ with Military Honors. Arpoika Daniels and Kirby Hines will officiate the service. Bill will be laid to rest by his wife of 69 years, Edna McDonald at Little Cemetery.
