Seminole resident Beverly Sue Williams died Monday, September 6, 2021 in Oklahoma City.
Beverly, the daughter of Albert Jack and Vonnie Nadine (Hand) Williams, was born July 16, 1948 in Prague. Beverly graduated from New Lima High School with the class of 1966. She then attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, receiving her bachelor’s degree in biology. Beverly continued her education, initially at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, then back to East Central, where she attained her master’s degree. In 1991 Beverly began her career as a biology instructor at Seminole Junior College. In 2001, after 20 years of service Beverly retired for the college. During her tenure, Beverly was an instructor of biology, saw the name of the college change from Seminole Junior College to Seminole State College, and she was the vice chair of the Math, Science and Engineering Division for many years. In 2019 Beverly was granted honorary emeritus status by the SSC board of regents. Beverly was an avid reader, she enjoyed bird watching, and travelling and she loved her pets. She was also very skilled as an artist. Over the years she created many award winning paintings as well as beautiful pottery.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Troy Williams and Jack Williams.
Beverly is survived by her sister, Marsha Drumm and her husband Terry Drumm Jr.; a brother, Ron Williams and his wife Jenny Williams; nephews, Jayson Williams, Stephen Williams, Trevor Berg, and Ryan Williams; a niece, Megan Williams, and many beloved friends.
A memorial service will be Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
