Betty Louise (Plunkett) Smith, 90 year old former Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away January 30, 2019 in Edmond, Oklahoma where she had lived for the past 10 years. Betty was born December 15, 1928 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to parents Verba R. Plunkett and Ruth E. (Sanders) Plunkett. Betty attended a business college in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1946. She worked as a reservation clerk at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was also a homemaker. She married Carl Lee Smith on September 9, 1978 in Carson City, Nevada. Betty was a member of the Wewoka Church of Christ while she lived in Seminole. She was a lifelong member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association Auxiliary. Betty is survived by her son, Brian Carver and his wife Sheryl of Tuttle, Oklahoma, daughters, Gayle Williams and her husband Windall of Paducah, Kentucky and Marcy Lail and her husband Steve of Edmond, Oklahoma and her sister Alma Barnes of Maryland. Grandchildren, Cindy and Danny Weinfeld, Chris and Valerie Williams, Brad and Andrea Lail, Jennifer and Kyle Weirsma, Jeremy and Kaylee Carver and Kimberley Miller. Betty also had eleven great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Verba and Ruth Plunkett, her first husband, Ell B. Carver who was the father of her daughters Marcy and Gayle. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Dana Lail and grandson, Johnny Cox II. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens east of Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Brad Lail, Chris Williams, Cindy Weinfeld, Jennifer Wiersma, Steve Lail and Windall Williams.
