Betty Sims

Betty Ruth (Masters) Sims, 85 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born September 14, 1931 in Seminole to parents O.C. Masters and Mary Frances (Matlock) Masters. Betty graduated from Varnum High School in Seminole County, Oklahoma in 1949. On December 13, 1949 Betty married Stanley Sims at Highway Baptist Church in Little, Oklahoma. Betty worked for Credit Bureau in Seminole and later for City Finance.  She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole, where she had served the Lord since she was a child. Survivors include one son, Brian Drew Sims and his wife Cindy Sims of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters, Karen (Sims) Chandler and her husband John Chandler of Seminole, Oklahoma, Jeannie (Sims) Kinney and her husband Jeff Kinney of Flagstaff, Arizona.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandsons, and 4 great-granddaughters.  Also surviving are a host of other family and dear friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, O.C. and Mary Frances Masters, by her husband Stanley Sims who died May 17, 2002, by one sister, Stella Anderson and by one brother, Odell Masters. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017 at Little Cemetery located north of Seminole, with Matt Pollock officiating the service.  Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband Stanley Sims. The casket will be open for visitation at the funeral home but will not be open at the cemetery. The family request that donations be sent to Oklahoma Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Betty Sims. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
