Betty Horn

Betty Ree Horn, 90, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma. Betty was born November 1, 1927 to Jesse Greenwood and Dora Gilpatrick Greenwood.   Betty grew up in Yeager, Oklahoma and graduated from Yeager High School.  Not long after graduation she met and married George Aaron Horn from Seminole, Oklahoma. They made Seminole their home for over 60 years.   Betty was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole. One of her greatest joys was helping in the church kitchen. She loved sharing the recipes and stories that came out of working in the church kitchen, She always spoke kindly and lovingly of her church family.   Betty was the cherished Christian leader of her family, her children were her gift from God, therefore she felt it was her duty to raise them to worship, honor and share God’s love and His word with others.   Betty was a wife and a stay at home mother until her youngest child started kindergarten, then she went to work for several years as an aid in the Good Hope Elementary Head Start class, later she worked at Seminole Printers until her retirement.   Betty was preceded in death by her husband, George, one son , Jerry, son-in-law, Mike Reynolds, daughter-in-law, Marcel Horn, her father, mother, two brothers, Duroy and Oral and two sisters; Kathleen and Vada.   She is survived by her children, Cindy Walker and her husband Al of Waurika, Oklahoma, Brenda Williams and her husband, Bob of Seminole, Bruss Horn and his wife Jolyn of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Ginger Richardson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; Kristin Sherfield and her husband Jerry, Brittan Rigney and her husband Wade, Lisa Wheeler and her husband Aaron, Amanda Ford and her husband Eric, Blayne Horn, Cortney Garcia, Cody Richardson and two step grandchildren, Toni Stephenson and family and Jeff Walker and Family; twelve great grandchildren; Addison McDonald and her husband Stephen, Karigan Sherfield, Gavyn Wheeler, Callen Rigney, Draper Ford, Skylar, Hunter, Christian, Emma and Madison Sobralski and Gabriella Xander Garcia, one great great granddaughter, Tynslee McDonald. Tynslee made the 5th generation of girls in Betty’s family; she also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the First Baptist Church at 420 Reid Street in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma.   Casket bearers will be: Jerry Sherfield, Wade Rigney, Aaron Wheeler, Eric Ford, Callen Rigney, Gavyn Wheeler, Blayne Horn, and Stephen McDonald.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.   Funeral Information: September 4, 2018, 10:30 AM Seminole First Baptist Church located at 420 Reid Street, Seminole, OK 74868
