Betty Ruth (DeShazo) Brown passed from this life on April 22, 2025, at her home near Seminole, Oklahoma. A graveside service officiated by Larry Vickers is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, April 28, at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.
Betty was born on January 6, 1934, to Harvey and Irene (Arrington) DeShazo in Seminole. She graduated from Varnum High School in May 1951 and married Elbert Edwin Brown in August 1951. Betty was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother during the early years of their three daughters, Deborah, Rebecca, and Angela born in October 1952; November 1953, and December 1956, respectively. The young family relocated due to Elbert’s employment with a major oil company several times across Oklahoma prior to moving back to Seminole County for the rest of their lives.
Betty enjoyed many years of work in the offices of Sullivan-Dollar Insurance Company. Upon her retirement, she worked side-by-side with Elbert in caring for and training their own racing quarter horses. Elbert passed away in December 2014, leaving Betty and her beloved Australian Shepherd, Queenie, to live together independently in her rural residence for more than 10 more years.
Betty, a member of the Church of Christ, was sustained by her faith following the loss of her husband Elbert (2014); son-in-law Ron Dulworth (2018); son-in-law Mike Cornelison (2019); grandson Eric Cornelison (2023); and daughter Angela Holmberg (2024). She is survived by daughters Deborah Cornelison and Rebecca Dulworth; grandchildren Ryan Dulworth, Courtney Dulworth Baros, and Daniel Holmberg; great-grandchildren Hannah Ingram, Jake and Max Cornelison, Everett and Landry Holmberg, Nate Summers, and Brinley Baros; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Mildred DeShazo; and many other relatives and friends.
