Bettie Louise (Moore) Scott

July 31, 1928 — November 22, 2017

Bettie Louise (Moore) Scott, age 89, a resident of Crowder, Oklahoma and former long-time resident of Oklahoma City, passed from this life surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Rev. Tawana Holland and Rev. James Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Crowder Cemetery in Pittsburg County with Rev. Chester Denny officiating.  Her grandsons will serve as casket bearers.  The family will gather to receive guests at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 1st. Bettie (Louise) was born on July 31, 1928 in Hartford, Arkansas the fifth of eleven children to Elbert Causey and Eula Mae (McCord) Moore.  Bettie (Louise) was reared near Haywood, Oklahoma where she attended school.  She married Rev. Edward “Peb” Henderson Scott on June 3, 1946 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.  She worked as a homemaker and loved sewing, cooking, gardening, and raising puppies. She and her husband pastored Harbor’s Light Assembly of God Church in Oklahoma City for 29 years.   Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kenneth Scott and wife, Julia, of Konawa, Oklahoma and Tommy Scott of Crowder, Oklahoma; daughters, Linda Murr of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Karen Wade and husband, Ralph, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother, Joe Moore and wife, Jane, of Atwood, Oklahoma and sister, Betty Wehunt of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren:  Rev. Tawana Holland, Eddy Scott, Waymon Scott, April Robb, Chris Scott, Joshua Murr, Amy Eskew, Jenny Buckhalter, Nicholas Harness and Havyn Harness; eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, Willie Moore, Wilburn Moore, Henry Moore, Jerry Lee Moore, and Leon Moore; three sisters, Hazel Putman, Bernice Mason Battles, and Loretta Ramsey and daughter-in-law, Veline Scott.
