Bessie Quinalty, 84, longtime Seminole resident, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Bessie was born November 11, 1933 in Dela, Oklahoma in Pushmataha County, to Monroe Cornilus Locke and Bonnie Mae (Payne) Locke. Bessie was a homemaker and in her early years, she picked cotton. She was a very faithful woman, who prayed and read her bible daily. She attended the Messiah’s Temple in Wewoka, Oklahoma and a member of the Reflection Evangelistic Ministries. She married James Quinalty on September 15, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bessie is survived by her son; Michael Severns and his wife Joy of Seminole, Oklahoma and two daughters, Mary Louis Pitts and Joann Jackson, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law, Mary Quinalty of Seminole, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren; Renee Quinalty, Rita Powell, Katie Davis, Michael A. Severns, Hannah Breed, Dillion Breed and Matthew Breed, five great grandchildren; Jody, Dillion, Kaden, Nyla and Gracie, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Quinalty, three sons; Lloyd, Mitchell and Albert. Funeral services will be, 2:00 P.M.,Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Midway First Baptist Church, south of Wewoka, Oklahoma, on Highway 56, with Rev. John Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Choya Davis, Michael Severns, Christopher Powell, Bobby Davis, Johnny Ross, Dillion Breed, Michael A. Severns and Matthew Breed. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
