Shawnee resident Bertha Jewel Kitchen, 89, passed away Friday, February 22, 2008, at a local nursing home.rnrnShe was born May 1, 1918, to Otis and Zella (Devereaux) Hawkins in Seminole, Oklahoma.rnrnShe married William Clyde (Bill) Kitchen in June of 1934. She was a long-time member of the Varnum Congregational Methodist Church. rnrnShe was preceded in death by her husband in 1971 and a son Steven in 1976; she was also preceded by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.rnrnSurvivors include a daughter Gerry Yeisley and husband James of Shawnee, Oklahoma, sons, Billy and wife Jean Kitchen of Enid, and, Danny Kitchen of Texas; six grandchildren, Debbie Swaim and husband Danny, Tim Kitchen, Donna Way and husband Richard, Jamie Barrick and husband Tim, Misty Smith and husband Zuriel, and Steven Kitchen (Bowden); eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Arvel Hawkins and wife Cookie, Glenn and wife Frances, and one sister Viola Lothringer. rnrnGraveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2008, at Little Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Talley officiating. Arrangements are under the directions of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. rnrnIn lieu of flowers, the family has suggested Heartland Hospice, 3700 N.
