Bertha Ann Hardy, 52 year-old Sasakwa resident passed from this life Thursday, December 15, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born September 25, 1959 in DeQueen, Arkansas to parents Victor Hardy and Rhoda (Harjo) Hardy. Following High School, Bertha joined the United States Army where she earned the marksman badge rifle A-16. While in the Army she also attended Administration School in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. Bertha was also a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma the Rewalke Band. Survivors include one son, Shane Dorsey of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sisters, Bernice Benefield of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Leona Mars of Goldsby, Oklahoma; one granddaughter; and a host of other family and dear friends. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Rhoda (Harjo) Hardy; by one sister, Rita Marks (2010); the father of her son, Alvin Dorsey (2003); four nephews, Robert Murphy, Jr., Justin Howard, Nathan Howard and William “Bubba” Eslick; one niece, Kristina Davis. Wake services are scheduled for Saturday, December 17, 2011, 6:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Bertha will be taken to Bird Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. and a wake will be held that evening at the church. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2011, at Bird Creek Baptist Church in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Bird Creek Cemetery with Jempsey Harjo officiating the service. Casket Bearers will be: Ron Daniels, Joey Mars, Victor Mars, Chris Mars, Jeremy Marks, Phillip Howard, Anthony Eckles and Monty Sampson.
