Berry Wilburn “Buck” Buchanan of Seminole, Oklahoma entered eternal life on July 31, 2013 in Seminole, Oklahoma; he was 84. Buck was born March 17, 1929 in Blanchard, Oklahoma to William Montgomery and Emma Mae (Berry) Buchanan. Buck married Betty Marie (Ashby) on June 5, 1954 in Seminole, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas until settling down near Seminole in 1957. He retired several years ago from Goodyear, where he worked as a mechanic and service manager. Buck was a member of the Refuge Worship Center in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Buck was always a very active man. He loved golfing, fishing, camping, and gardening (until the deer kept eating everything). He liked watching westerns, OU football and boxing (which Betty said she couldn’t watch with him). Buck also had an eclectic taste in music; his daughters fondly remember him playing “The Musical Nuns” for them regularly. Being born on St. Patrick’s Day, Buck was quite the leprechaun. He enjoyed playing pranks and teasing family and friends. If anyone was sad, he worked tirelessly until he could bring a smile to their face. He really liked to laugh and to have others laugh with him. He loved to read the Bible and he helped everyone; he truly had a servant’s heart. Buck dearly loved his family and his grandchildren. Buck leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Betty, of the home; two daughters, Janice Newman and her husband, Vaughn of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Karen Anderson and her husband Jody of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother, Floyd D. Buchanan and his wife Susie of Konawa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, with a fifth great-grandchild due in September; nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him as Uncle Pud, as well as many other family members and dear friends. He is also survived by his grandchildren Elisa and Kurt Connelly, Clay and Laura Anderson and Joy Newman, and his great grandchildren; Garrett Anderson, Emma Connelly, Macey Anderson, Ian Connelly and another great grandson due in September. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Buchanan; three brothers, J.W., Ernest, and Bill Buchanan; two sisters, Bonnie Graham and Ethel Lambright, and four half-brothers, Duncan, Lloyd, Ray and George “Pete” Buchanan.
