Benton Thomas “Tom” Hopkins, Jr., 73 Benton Thomas “Tom” Hopkins, Jr., former Seminole county resident passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 73. Tom was born July 8, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents, Benton Thomas Hopkins, Sr. and Mary (Reid) Hopkins. Upon his completion of high school, Tom attended Barber College and owned and operated his own barber shop. Tom married Norma Jean (Kernell) Hopkins in Shawnee, Oklahoma on October 20, 1977. Tom is survived by his wife of the home, Norma Jean Hopkins; two daughters, Michelle Hopkins, and Jennifer Hopkins and four grandchildren, Hannah Roberts, Andrew Roberts, Madison McPhaul and Maya McPhaul. Tom was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Seminole, Oklahoma with pastor Leon Postoak and Rev. Chebon Kernell officiating. Burial will take place at the Kernell Family Cemetery, located west of Seminole, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are: Jason Kernell, Aaron Kernell, Tino Kernell, Anthony Kernell, Todd Smith and Chris Smith. Honorary bearers are: Rocky Kernell, and Greg Kernell.
