Ben Farland Reeves, age 80 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Wynnewood Care Center in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery in Konawa. Brandon Thomas will officiate and Bruce Crawford and Mark Reeves will assist. Pallbearers are Mark Stoup, Brandon Stoup, Mark Payne, Mark Porter, Dennis Isaacs, Chris Fixico, and Ed Fixico, and Alan Akerman. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Long, Forrest “Bud” Hatcher, Clifford “Shorty” Moore, Tony Lowry, Roger Harrod, Billy Akerman, Jack Huckleberry, and Bob Sanders. Ben was born on August 28, 1929, in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, to biological parents, Ethel Jewel (Reynolds) and Gordan Reeves. He married Lillian Reynolds in Riverbank, California on April 7, 1950. Ben was a carpenter by trade. He lived in Konawa for the past thirty-five years, and he was a member of the Silas Missionary Baptist Church in Konawa. Ben enjoyed playing and singing music and was a great family man who loved church and loved hunting. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Reeves of the home; two sons, Lon Allen Reeves and wife, Sheila of Konawa, and Mark David Reeves and wife, Mona also of Konawa; three daughters, Kathy Rennee Garcia and husband, John of Merced, California, Marjorie Ann Ingram and husband, Ollie of Konawa, and Carol Jean Steele and husband, Michael of Harrah, Oklahoma; one brother, Tommy Reeves of El Reno, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Jewel and Bill Fox; six infant grandchildren; his grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
