Barbara Eileen Rains

Prague resident Barbara Eileen Rains passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in Prague at the age of 85.

Barbara, the daughter of Earl Ray Findley and Ina (Mayberry) Golden, was born October 10, 1937, in Hunter, AR.  She spent a great deal of her early life on a rice farm in Arkansas.  After graduating from DeWitt High School in Arkansas, she moved to Orange California. Barbara was a dietician and spent her career working at the UCI Medical Center Hospital in Orange, California.  While working at UCI, Barbara met a coworker, John Rains; on May 30, 1956, they married in Nevada.  Barbara and John enjoyed 62 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 19, 2018.  Barbara and John each retired from UCI with 20 years of service.  In 1993 they moved to Prague, Oklahoma and started Rains Janitorial.  Barbara enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading, listening to gospel music, and could always be found at the events of her grandkids and great grandkids.  More than anything, Barbara loved spending time with her family.  She was also a faithful member of her church where over the years frequently volunteered her time.  Barbara and John enjoyed traveling in their younger years and whenever they could, they reached out to help the less fortunate.  In addition to helping her fellow man, Barbara had a soft spot for stray animals that she would find around her neighborhood.  All of these qualities give us a measure of Barbara’s life, Barbara, was a true follower of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, William Findley, Russell Findley, and Larry Findley; and by her sister, Doris Findley Ander-Chuck.

Barbara is survived by her sons, John Rains Jr. of Prague, and Andrew Rains of Laguna Hills, CA.; a daughter, Myra Pearson of Prague; a brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Fay Findley of Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren, Joshua Rains, of Shawnee, OK, Janaya Beaver, of Welty, OK, Samantha Corley, of Shawnee, OK. Craig Pearson, of Prague, OK. Garrett Rains, of Bend, OR, and Davis Rains, of Orange, CA; seven great grandchildren, Rebecca Rains, Cody Taylor, Jace Rains, Shelby Taylor, Lilliana Mongold, Graysen Corley, and Liam Rains; and one great great grandchild, Denver; along with many other family and friends.

The Rains family would like to say a special thank you to Loving Care Hospice for their care and compassion.

A memorial burial service for Barbara and John is being planned for this coming spring.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
