Barbara Jean Newson-Louie was born in East Palo Alto, California to V. O. and Ruth Newson on December 15, 1949. She was the first child born to this union. She was raised in Palo Alto, California, with her brothers and sisters. She had a very happy childhood. During her early years she attended elementary school and graduating from Sweet Home High School in East Palo Alto, California. Later she attended a vocational technical school OICW Volet as a certified Sales Clerk, in East Palo Alto, CA. Barbara attended the Church of God in Christ in Redwood City, California. She attended church with her family. Later she became a member until she moved to Oklahoma. Barbara moved to Oklahoma with her husband. Barbara and Toris E. Louie married on November 29, 1974. To this union five children were born. Barbara loved working on the farm with her husband. Barbara would go for food pickups, feed the livestock and maintain her household. Barbara enjoyed going to the lakes on weekends and holidays. Barbara also enjoyed going to football games. She loved to shout and cheer for her boys, what a great joy she had for her children. She worked at Homeland Grocery in Seminole for over 15 years. Barbara attended Seminole State College where she was working on a business degree. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents V.O. and Ruth Newson, one son Mike Newson, on sister Denise Newson, two-sisters-in-law, Alene Louie and Jennie Mathis, one brother-in-law Sam Edwards. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Toris E. Louie of Lima, Oklahoma, one daughter, Aiko Louie, Four Sons, Xavier, Myron, Rion and Ryan Louie all of Seminole, Oklahoma, eight brothers, David, Gil, Keysland, Kurt, Eric, Roland, Dwight, Vernon Newson all of East Palo Alto, California, sisters Brenda, Naomi and Carolyn Newson and Rene Cunningham all of East Palo Alto, California, five sisters-in-law Ruth Louie, Betty Jean Louie, Faye Morris, Mary and Michael Metcalf, Cora and Al Lee, two brothers-in-law, Tony Lacy and Oscar Edwards, nine granddaughters; Mia, Makia, Destiny, Asia’na, Kalina, Rhylynn, Tayor, Pheona and Aaliyah Louie, ten grandsons; Darius, Trenton, Desmond, Tyson, Cedric, Nathum, Dace, Qunton, Caiden and Ryon Jr., two great granddaughters Paisley and Jazzlyn Louie. Barbara also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Geraldine Crawford officiating.
