Barbara June Bunch

Barbara June Rowe Stephenson Bunch, age 72, of Oliver Springs, TN, passed away peacefully among family on April 8, 2017 in Seminole, OK. Born June 29, 1944, to Jack and Stella Rowe, in Seminole, she grew up in Oklahoma, then moved to Tennessee, where she spent most of her life. Barbara was kind and thoughtful, with a generous spirit and compassionate heart. She enjoyed gardening and surrounded her home every year with beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables. She always kept the bird feeders filled and took great pleasure at the many hummingbirds that came every summer. She was an avid reader and loved learning. She enjoyed cooking, and collecting and experimenting with new recipes was a favorite pastime. Another favorite hobby was searching for fun and distinct items at yard sales. She had an especially soft spot for animals and was devoted to her beloved cats. Most of all, she cherished her family and their time together, and had great fun sharing stories and memories both recent and long ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Walter and Hugh, her sister Kathryn, and her husband Jessie Bunch. Survivors include daughters, Shelly Stephenson Stirling and husband Glenn, of Knoxville, TN; Summer Stephenson of Oak Ridge, TN; sisters Carole Summers of Casper, WY; Linda Simmons of AR; Margaret Clapp and husband Lynn of Las Animas, CO; brothers Wendell and Jesse, Jerry and wife Bertie of Seminole; sister-in-law Lana Jackson also of Seminole; step-sons Mike Bunch, Doug and wife Debbie and son Ryan Bunch, and James Bunch, all of TN, in addition to a large extended family including numerous nieces and nephews. Her daughters would like to give a special, heartfelt thank-you to the dear family and friends who provided ongoing encouragement, care and support for their mom in her final months, and filled her life with happiness, joy and laughter. Private graveside services will be held at Little Cemetery in Seminole, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
