Barbara Ann Barrowman

Barbara Ann Barrowman, formerly of Seminole, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 86.

Barbara, the daughter of Nolen and Pauline (Moore) Blackburn, was born August 8, 1938, in Stratford. She graduated from Seminole High School with the class of 1955. She then attended Seminole Junior College. Barbara went to work as a court reporter in Seminole for Justice Hargrave. After several years of working in Seminole, she moved to Oklahoma City and began to work at the District Court in Oklahoma County, and ultimately retired in Tulsa from workers comp court. She was a member of the Business Professional Women’s Club, serving for a period of time as the president of that organization. Retirement gave Barbara time for one of her favorite pastimes, gardening. Barbara loved her flowers. The only thing more important to Barbara was her family and her friends. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Nolen and Pauline Blackburn, her two sisters and two grandsons, Matt Carter and Nolan Israel Barrowman.

Barbara is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Jayme Barrowman, of Liberal KS, and Stuart and Cindy Barrowman, of Meadows Place, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Michael Thurman, of Edmond; grandchildren, Chris Thomas, Jason and Iris Thomas, Michael Thurman II, Jennifer and Matt Vicinus, Kimberly and Andrew Light, Gwenda and John Tillery, Stan Barrowman, Jr. and Tiffany., Christopher Sobey, Jessica and Derryn McWillams, and Jason Arias; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Nolan A. Blackburn; and many other family members and friends.

Viewing will be on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home and the family will receive visitors from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Services will be scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:00 A.M., at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with Duane Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
