Babette (Betty) Fowler, longtime resident of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the age of 82. Betty was born in Neuses, Germany on November 27, 1940, to Nickolaus and Katharina Dorrfus. She met Thomas Harry Scott while he was stationed in Germany. They were married on December 31, 1963. He and Betty had three sons Ronald, Carlton, and Thomas and one daughter, Christine. They traveled a lot due to the military and later ended up in the state of Washington. Thomas was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for training and while there he passed away suddenly in April of 1976. Betty and the children then moved to Seminole, Oklahoma in June of 1976 to be near family.
A few years later Betty was introduced to Floyd Fowler, Jr. by their girls. She married Floyd on April 28, 1979, and gained three more children: Doug, Steven, and Cindy. Betty and Floyd shared 42 years together before Floyd’s passing in September of 2020.
Betty worked 18 years for Wrangler in Seminole, Oklahoma. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and she loved her pets. Betty was always there for her family and was a kind soul. She loved being able to travel over to Germany the few times she made it before her passing to visit family.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands, six brothers, three sisters, and one son, Doug Fowler. She is survived by her sister Gretl Loch of Germany, son Ronald and wife Charmaine Scott of Eufaula, Oklahoma with son Aaron Scott and daughter Stephanie Johnston, daughter Christine and husband Jim Poinsett of McLoud, Oklahoma with daughter Maygan Scott, son Carlton Scott and fiancé Melanie Burt of Bethel, Oklahoma with sons Brandon, Corey, Thomas, and Matthew, son Thomas and wife Catrina Scott of Seminole, Oklahoma with sons Kristopher and Dustyn and daughters Paige and Izzy, God-daughter Birgid and husband Paul Schleifer of Germany, son Steven and wife Deanna Fowler of Tulsa, Oklahoma with sons Zachary, Eli, and Roderick, daughter Cindy Watson of Dewar, Oklahoma with sons Kyle and Travis Posey and daughter Allison, eleven great-grandchildren, and various nieces, nephews, and cousins of Germany and the United States.
Viewing will be from 1:00pm to 7:00pm on December 15, 2022, and 8:00am to 7:00pm on December 16, 2022, at the Swearingen Funeral Home, 1001 N. Milt Phillips Avenue, Seminole, Oklahoma. The funeral services will be at the same location at 2:00pm on December 17, 2022. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.
