Audie Ann George, long time Konawa resident, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at her home, at the age of 74. Audie was born on September 5, 1947, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Roy Luther George and Lillian Lahoma (Walker) George. She grew up in Sasakwa, Oklahoma graduated from Sasakwa School. She later graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. Audie worked as an nursing clerk for Chickasaw Nation Health facilities for over 30 years. She lived in Konawa for the remainder of her life.
Audie was a devoted member of Vamoosa Baptist Church. She served the Lord as song leader, Sunday school teacher at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa. She was faithful to reading her Bible. She also enjoyed cooking, putting puzzles together and watching cooking shows.
Audie is survived by her two brothers, James George and wife, Peggy and Edward George and wife, Tonette and many other family and friends.
Audie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lahoma George; brother, Bobby George and sister, Frances Cully.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Brent Harper, Casey Gentry, Ron Raper, Bud Moore, Chisum Moore and Tommy Sexton. Honorary casket bearers will be Eric Dye, Tommy Gibson, Jack Merrell, Donn Pease, Buddy George and Dr. Justin Roulston.
The family would like to extend an honorable mention to Halo Hospice, Earl and Christy Hood, Kate Wolfe, Becky Williamson, Marsha McCarn, Nicole White, Heather Smith, Felisha Deskin; ER nurses at Chickasaw Nation, Lori Dodson, Shawna McFarland, Melissa Washington, Jillian Chadwick-James.
Viewing will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Pastor Bruce Sanders and Pastor Earl Hood will be officiating. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
