Aubrey Lee "Al" Monday

Aubrey Lee “Al” Monday, 80 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Monday, February 7, 2011 in Seminole, Oklahoma following a short illness.  He was born July 11, 1930 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to parents Jake Monday and Gladys (Callaway) Monday. Aubrey married Lorene Griffin on January 20, 1951 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.  He worked for Tinker Air Force Base until the early 1970's when he retired.  He then owned and operated Al’s Automotive in Tecumseh then later Seminole for many years.  The couple moved to Seminole in 1979. While in Tecumseh, Aubrey was a member of the Tecumseh Rotary Club and was also an avid golfer who played often at the Elk’s Golf Course in Shawnee. Aubrey was also a member of the Elk’s Lodge in Seminole and often would play golf at the Jimmie Austin Golf Course.  He was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee. Aubrey leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Lorene (Griffin) Monday; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas and Beverly and her husband Bruce Strand of Edmond, Oklahoma; three sisters, Louise Lawrence of Greeley, Colorado, June Lenher of Jasper, Florida and Loretta Garretson of McLoud, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Lisa Beth Hopson of Kingston, Oklahoma and Ethan Edwards of Edmond, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends. Aubrey was preceded in death by his father Jake Monday, by his mother Gladys Lock and step-father Herman Lock. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 39307 W. MacArthur in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Pastor Lewis Walters will officiate the service and Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.
