Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, hairdresser and beauty shop owner Arvilla Altman are scheduled for 2:00pm, Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Robertson officiating.rn rnServices will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.rn rnArvilla passed away on Tuesday, April 03, 2007 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 95. rnShe was born on a farm in Foster, Oklahoma on January 11, 1912 to Arthur W. and Stella Mae (McConnell) Pickett. She attended Foster schools and graduated from Maysville High School. rn rnArvilla came to Seminole in 1936 and worked at the Tonkawa Beauty Shop with Lou Blevins, her aunt. She married Vance Altman and they later moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado, for two years where he worked for an oil company. When they returned to Seminole she resumed her profession at Tonkawa Beauty Shop. She later bought Nell?s Beauty Shop at 323 E. Oak, and changed the name to Arvilla?s Beauty Shop where she stayed in the same location for over 36 years. She has been a beauty operator for over 60 years.rn rnArvilla attended the Harvey Road Baptist Church, where she taught the Senior Adult Ladies Class for approximately 12 years. She had been a member of BPW since the club was chartered in 1949. rn rnShe is preceded in death by her parents; husband Vance Altman on January 31, 1988 and sister Meathel Spradlin.rn rnShe is survived by three sisters: Armintha Blackwood of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Agatha Whitten Blair of Norman, Oklahoma and Marcella Ratcliff of Mira Loma, California, as well as several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.rn Funeral Information: April 5, 2007, 2:00 AM
