Arvel Lee Hawkins, 92. lifelong Seminole resident passed away, Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Arvel was born May 23, 1925 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Otis Hawkins and Mary Mozelle (Devereaux) Hawkins. Arvel married Cookie (Boggess) Hawkins on September 24, 1944 and she passed away on July 12, 2013. They moved from California to Seminole, Oklahoma in 1952 to make Seminole their home. Arvel worked for many years at Wills Concrete for 20 years and later for Oklahoma Liquefied Gas Company, where he delivered propane to drilling rigs around Seminole for over 27 years before retirement. He enjoyed storytelling, singing, watching the RFD Channel, Hew Haw Show, listening to and watching football and loved Taco Bell Chalupa’s. Arvel is survived by his four daughters, Shay Haworth of Naples, Florida, Joy Blanton and her husband James of Seminole, Oklahoma, Linda Moore of Seminole, Oklahoma and Vicki Webb and her husband Ron of Lindsay, Oklahoma, one brother Glen Hawkins of Oraville, California and one sister Viola Lothringer of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren; Hollie Johnson and her husband Darian of Seminole, Oklahoma, Marc Hailey of Ft. Worth, Texas, Don Haworth of Moore, Oklahoma, Missy Goodnight of Alma, Arkansas, Jason Blanton of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Bryan Guthrie of Seminole, Oklahoma, Kelly Hamm and her husband Chad of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Kristen Cowell of Seminole, Oklahoma. Arvel is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Arvel was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 69 years, Cookie Hawkins , his great great grandson, Trenton “ Tag” Godwin on March 6, 2012, a grandson Travis Goodnight on April 12, 2014 and four brothers and three sisters. Memorial services to Celebrate Arvel’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday February 24, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
