Arthela “ Artie” Daphine Legg, 65, longtime Butner School Educator and Basketball coach, died Sunday, January 11, 2015 in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Artie was born February 12, 1949 in Weleetka, Oklahoma to Daphine Mae (Newman ) and Edward Neal Dooly. Artie was a school teacher and was the grade school girls basketball coach for 27 years at Butner Schools in Cromwell, Oklahoma before her retirement. After retirement she was elected to serve on the Butner School Board, a position that she held until her death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cromwell where she was very active and played the piano for church services. Artie was a graduate of Jenks High School and received her Bachelors of Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She enjoyed fishing, being with her family, her teaching career and church activities. Artie is survived by her two brothers and sisters-in-law; James and Donna Dooly of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Tom and Anna Dooly of Claremore, Oklahoma; her sister and brother-in-law; Julia Ann and Robert Ford of Wagoner, Oklahoma, seven nieces, six nephews and sixteen great nieces and great nephews and many friends, former players and students. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the new gymnasium at Butner Schools in Cromwell, Oklahoma, and burial will be at the Wetumka City Cemetery in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be her nephews; Rob Ford, Jeremy Ford, Erin Dooly, Adam Dooly, Justin Cheatham and Brian Taylor.
