Arthur Wayne Carpitcher , age 67 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma for most of his life, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Chickasaw Nation Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Beverly Altizer will officiate, and casket bearers are Caleb Tebe, Malachi Tebe, Cornelius Crawford, Steven Tebe, Elijah Tebe, and Tony Roberts. Honorary bearers are Ronnie Lunsford, Stephen Floch, Herschel Davis, Dean Walker, David Hammett, Bill Knowles, Kenneth Meashintubby, and Robert Meashintubby.
Arthur was born September 30, 1953 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Younger Carpitcher and Mattie (Morgan) Carpitcher. He earned an Associate Degree from Haskell Indian Junior College and worked as a telephone technician for GTE for ten years. He married Glenda Gail Meashintubby April 28, 1973 in Konawa, and he has been the pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God Indian Mission in Konawa for twenty-seven years. Arthur loved gospel music and mentoring musicians. He loved studying the Bible and spending time with the Lord. He also loved watching his grandchildren do anything. Arthur liked western movies, OU football, and eating with his family.
He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Glenda Carpitcher of the home; one son, Ricky Carpitcher and wife, Andrea of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two daughters, Rachel Tebe and husband, Steven of Konawa, and Rebecca Bogle and husband Kenneth of Webb City, Missouri; one brother, Charles Rains and wife, Judy of Arkansas; one sister, Christine Leatherman and husband, E. L. of Texas; eleven grandchildren, Caleb, Malachi, Elijah, and Chloe Tebe, Lydia Bogle, Zachery Miller, and Isaiah, Elijah, Benjamin, Kirsten, Jasmine Carpitcher; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a church congregation who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Younger and Mattie Carpitcher; five sisters, Josephine Schroder, Bobbi Faye Jones, Jewell Berryhill, Shirley Rains, and Rosie Bounds; his infant brother; and two grandchildren.
